MYSTERY TRENDMYSTERY TREND

THE MYSTERY TREND
Alameda -- Walnut Creek 1966

The bandleader, Ron Nagel, was an artist in his own right. Frank Werber, who I was shooting for at the time, managed The Mystery Trend. Both of these images were shot for promo use. The dinner scene was photographed in my empty house (we had moved and the house was up for sale). I still do not know why the dinner scene, it was all explained to me at the time. They brought in their own floor surface, table & chairs, cooked a gourmet meal and even shared it with the real estate agent.

There were only two promo photography sessions; I never hung with them. Perhaps they thought I was a cop. I loved listening to Charlie blowing harp.

NOTES FROM THE UNDERGROUND
Berkeley 1966-9

I spent a lot of time with this group ever since they were first known as the UFOs. We worked together all the way up to them getting a recording contract, going to New York and cutting an album.
