COYOTE AND McCLURE
Marin Headlands 1978

Peter Coyote and Michael McClure are having a conversation at the Jamboree. This was the Whole World Jamboree put on by Stewart Brand of Whole Earth fame. There were many speakers from the Counter-Culture, environmental movement and entertainment field. People with a social conscience. The event lasted for 3 days. We all camped out, played and ate together. I was shooting the event for Stewart Brand for his Co-Evolution magazine.

I was talking to Michael McClure at the Stewart Brand event when with excitement and respect he told me Peter Coyote was coming. Michael was always mentioning people to me that I never heard of but this time it was different. I think it was the reverence in Michael's voice that made me take notice. Since then, I have met Peter a few times and the respect is deserved, an amazing cat.
STEWART BRAND

STEWART BRAND

Stewart Brand has worn many hats. He was a Merry Prankster, publisher of the Whole Earth Catalog and Co-Evolution Magazine. He founded the Whole World Jamboree and was a special advisor to Governor Jerry Brown of California. I found him a real forward thinker, very smart, humble and nice man. He has changed all of our lives for the better. When I used to meet with him in his 'office', we met in a cargo container.
