TWO ANGELS AT CITY LIGHTS

TWO ANGELS AT CITY LIGHTS
San Francisco 2000

Friendly and efficient, Elaine Katzenberger and Stacey Lewis are my 2 angels at City Lights Publishing. Associate Director of City Lights, Elaine Katzenberger is an editor in her own right with her book FIRST WORLD, HA, HA, HA! Stacey Lewis is the Media Director handling public relations and the newsletter. She is a good photographer too. Both women contributed to the success of my book, Postcards from the Underground.

POET LAWRENCE FERLINGHETTI

POET LAWRENCE FERLINGHETTI
San Francisco 2001

Lawrence Ferlinghetti, poet and painter read at the landmark celebration. Then, to the impromptu blowing of conch shells from the crowd, Ferlinghetti was introduced as a man the FBI labeled "a rabble-rouser, a beatnik, and, most probably, insane." Donning a Statue of Liberty mask, Ferlinghetti read "Hum Bom'" from Allen Ginsberg's The Fall of America, winner of the National Book Award in 1973. "I had no idea how prophetic he was," said Ferlinghetti, referring to the current national crisis.
