Giles Paley-Phillips’ “The Fearsome Beastie” to become film

Fearsome Beastie book / film - kidlitA CGI animation short film of The Fearsome Beastie by award-winning author Giles Paley-Phillips, and released by Maverick Arts Publishing, is in the works.

The book will be adapted by Slurpy Studios and co-directed by Katie Steed and Jon Hunt, in collaboration with UCA.

UCA has a strong track record in animation, having produced four Oscar winners to date.

The film will be launched on the festival circuit soon after its summer 2014 completion.

Since its publication in May 2011, The Fearsome Beastie has won the 2012 People’s Book Prize in 2012 and been shortlisted for many other awards, including 2012 The Rotherham Children’s Book Award, and the 2013 The Heart of Hawick Children’s Book Prize.
