Amy and Shane Bugbee went on the road for a low-budget, year-long exploration of the people and places of America. The result is their book, The Suffering and Celebration of Life in America and the accompanying film, Politics, Art, Religion, and Revolution.
Both will be released on January 21, 2013.
The Suffering and Celebration of Life in America
This is the story of a road trip, a 365 day road trip across America taken by a Gen X couple, their dog, their turtle, and $180. They set out to find America and if the American Dream still existed, what they found was kindness, unity and themselves.
While on the road they posted more than 150 short videos for the public to see. The book tells their personal story, how they ended up on the road and the things that happened. Told through more than 40 interviews, journal entires and blogs, this 532 page epic offers a modern look at the people of America.
“A bittersweet slice of countercultural anthropology, in the tradition of Studs Terkel, bursting with flavor to savor.”
–Paul Krassner, author of Confessions of a Raving, Unconfined Nut
