A Tribute to the Life and Spirit of Woody Guthrie – Benefit for the Huntington Disease Society of America, July 29, 2012

Woody Guthrie - Henry Miller Library

Sunday July 29 at 3PM

Woody Guthrie was born in Okemah, OK on July 14, 1912; this year many celebrations of Woody’s life and music are taking place around the country.

Mike West & Co. will sing songs from various stages of Woody’s life. Included are some his more spiritually oriented songs, some of which have been set to music and recorded by other artists.

Steve Edington, who will perform the narrative portion of the program, is a Unitarian Universalist minister from Nashua, New Hampshire. He has previously appeared at the Henry Miller Memorial Library with the late Ric Masten, and following the publication of his book The Beat Face of God: The Beat Generation as Spirit Guides. His latest book is Bring Your Own God: The Spirituality of Woody Guthrie.
