How to Format Your Work for Submission to Empty Mirror

Want so submit your non-fiction article to Empty Mirror? Great!

We prefer submissions in .txt, .rtf, or .doc format. (But, if it's in another format, please get in touch; I can probably still read it!)

suggestions on formatting

Though we can format your work for the web, however it's written, but following the guidelines below will help us out.

  • Don't indent your paragraphs. Start each paragraph at the left margin.
  • Leave a space between paragraphs. Don't begin a new paragraph on the next line.
  • Don't use curly quotes or curly apostrophes; use plain quotes (") and apostrophes (') instead.

This isn't a dealbreaker - if you haven't followed these guidelines, that's OK. If we accept your work, we'll remove the indentations, add spaces between paragraphs and change the apostrophes & quotes for you. (It just may take us a bit more time to get your work online.)

tips on writing for the web

We also suggest you use short paragraphs - no longer than about 3 sentences - and use italicized text sparingly. While we certainly don't require that you do these things, it will be easier for folks to read your work on the web if you do. Long blocks of text and italics can be hard to read online.
