Publishing & Promotion Opportunities at EMB

Empty Mirror Books is an online bookstore & literary / arts resource, rather than a traditional (print) publisher. (We don't publish books.)

However, we're constantly on the lookout for quality literary & arts-related essays & info to publish here, on our website.

You'll find details about online publishing at Empty Mirror, & our other services, below.

Publishing On the Empty Mirror Website

Here's the skinny on what we're looking for, and how to get published on our site.

nonfiction: the Beats, literature, music & art

If you've written a biography, bibliography, tribute, review, interview or essay, or have other material relating to poetry, modern art, modern literature, the Beat Generation, music, or book collecting, please email us. We are also interested in photographs, reviews, artwork, audio, & video relating to those subjects.

For examples of what we publish, see:

You don't have to have been previously published - just have written something our readers might find of interest.

poetry? fiction?

Presently we're not seeking poetry or fiction, as we are focusing on developing our site as an informational resource. Nonfiction articles & exhibits are very welcome, however (see above for details).

payment & promotion

There's no monetary payment. But you get the glory of seeing your name - and work - in print, and publicized, on a website that typically gets up to 65,000 visitors per month. (You can reach many more readers on the web than through print publication.)

If you have a website, blog, book, or other project we can help you promote that as well, with ads, or with links from our site to yours. Just let us know how we can help.

We're good at promoting websites on the web (we do it for a living via our other website, Quanta) and will do it for you for free if you publish here at Empty Mirror.

All rights to published work revert to the author following publication.

guidelines

You can send your submission in the body of an email, or as a .doc or .rtf attachment. Photos or other illustrations may be included.

Most work we publish is from 300 to 3000 words, but we're very flexible; just send us what you've got.

Please include a short note along with your submission, introducing yourself & your work. In the event your work is published, we'd also like your bio; include your photo if you wish.

Please read our formatting tips and tips on writing for the web for more guidelines.

got something for us to publish online?

Please email Denise with your questions, ideas, or submissions.

If you send us work for consideration, we'll usually give you an answer in just a few days. (Maybe even sooner!) We won't keep you hanging.

The Third Page: A Journal of Ongrowing Natures

While The Third Page is located on Empty Mirror Books webspace, it's edited & designed by Hammond Guthrie. Publication is by invitation.

Why not publish your work on your own website?

Don't have a site yet?
It doesn't have to be expensive, or difficult, to get your website online!

I own a webdesign & webhosting company, specializing in arts-related websites, & would love to work with you. Cost ranges from $175-300 for a single-page website, or from $450 up for a larger site.

To learn more, read my article on choosing between a "free" website or a professionally-designed one, visit my webdesign site, or drop me a line. I'm glad to answer all your questions.
