Buku is a writer and photographer who has grown up and lived between Calcutta and New York. Her fiction has appeared in N+1; essays have been published in Threepenny Review, Huffington Post, Condé Nast Traveller, and Mint Lounge Her photographs have appeared in the New York Times and Documentum (a new journal edited by Stephen Shore). Forthcoming publications include a short story in APT; and photographs in F-Stop, Ink & Voices, and Constellation.
She is working on a collection of short stories about Indians in New York and a photo project with the slum dwellers of the Park Circus Basti, the largest Muslim slum in Calcutta.
