Inauguration Raga poem by Dan Wilcox
Inauguration Raga by Dan Wilcox

A.P.D. (a presidential disaster) announces the publication of Inauguration Raga, by Dan Wilcox, a 16-page chapbook of a poem improvised on January 20, 2017.

The poem was written from 10:00am to 4:30pm while watching the televised broadcasts of the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States, in a cheap notebook with a free motel ball-point pen. It was improvised much like jazz or the Indian music form raga, from the visual & aural images broadcast on CNN & on Democracy Now! as well as flashbacks to the 1972 inauguration of Richard Nixon.

Inauguration Raga is #12 in the Bob Kaufman series of inexpensive poetry chapbooks published by A.P.D. (another political debate).

Copies are available by mail for $4.00. Please make checks payable to “A.P.D.” and send to:

Excerpt from “Assassination Raga”

Justice Clarence Thomas swears in Pence
To support and defend the Constitution
Of the United States

The same oath I took December 1969
When drafted into the US Army
Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings “America”
Some say should be the US anthem
While Democracy Now! split screens
The protestors in the park
“Trump/Putin The Romance Continues”
“Chelsea Manning for President”
“Health Care is a Human Right”
“Education Not Deportation”

*

Chief Justice Roberts swears in
Trump
“Fake 45”
“We’ll Build a Wall Against
Racism & Bigotry”
Hail to the Chief
The TV image of the protest breaks up
As the cannons fire
“Black Lives Matter”
(Trump farts as he mounts the stage)
As I go to pee
