The Roman Arch: paintings by Anna Carina Sinocchi

Anna Carina Sinocchi

The Roman arch is the central theme and subject matter of the following works. Historically the arch is the foundation of Roman architecture and is hailed as a triumph of antiquity. It persisted in Italy and proceeds to be embraced by its utilization in today’s world. The Roman arch continues to circulate its meaning and grandeur.

The works both on paper and muslin are a visual result of the integration of the process of alternative photography with painting, by which they project the mystique of the Roman arch.

As fresh and vital antiquity is today, I look to renew antiquity within a new context. The mystery resides in the works of art willing to capture, transform, and elevate the modern imagination beyond an ordinary world.
