nevertheless, it is on that path

the west can be reached
nevertheless, in 1492
ended up in the West
that is, Guanahani
(now part of the Bahamas),
the name Columbus gave
this island was San Salvador
meaning: "Holy Savior"
then it was Cuba and Hispaniola
(Haiti and Dominican Republic)
Venezuela and more
thought he was in the East
his beloved Indies

first, not the last
white European illegal exploiter
a religious fanatic to

so many similarities

seizing others and their lands
parading chained Indians

exhibiting shackled "terrorists"
at Guantanamo Bay
dogs were used then to terrorize
they are employed now with same intent
Native Indians were put on skewers
Iraqis were put on leashes

Columbus was running after solid gold
Bush is running after liquid gold
Satisfaction's belch eluded them both

Columbus loved human slaves
Bush loves economic slaves
Columbus had visions from the Almighty
God is Bush's next-door neighbor
Columbus forced Christianity
Bush is imposing "Democracy"

major dissimilarity there is
and that will undo the Empire
Columbus unknowingly came to a place
where the biggest empire would rise
Bush intoxicatingly overstretched it
thus setting it on path to a demise
