San Francisco 2004Lawrence Ferlinghetti is shown here with some of his work from the opening of his exhibit at the George Krevsky Gallery. Nancy Peters helped me clear his fans away for a few seconds so I could shoot this photograph. San Francisco 2004At Lawrence's opening of his exhibit at the George Krevsky Gallery, I got to a have a private session with him. He explained to me the story behind his huge painting. He told me that his brother was the deputy warden at Sing Sing prison. He had to witness every execution, which finally put him over the edge. He said that the photo in the painting was found in his brother's effects after his death. |
