About Yasmine Shamma
Yasmine's background is as a literary scholar and critic. She has lived, worked, and written from the US, UK, and Middle East. Her current project assembles these experiences, and collects 4 years of interviews with Syrian refugees, and her books have been published by Oxford University Press and Edinburgh University Press. She occasionally writes reviews for Poetry, the TLS, and a variety of other literary and academic journals.
The research behind this work has been generously funded by a large British Academy award (“Tackling the UKs International Challenges”). She has also recently been awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship. Other recent accolades include a Research Fellowship held at Durham University.
