“A true poet rarely bothers with poetry. Does a gardener perfume his roses?”
Empty Mirror just launched the CocteauQuotes account on Twitter.
Most of the quotations are drawn from Professional Secrets: An Autobiography of Jean Cocteau Drawn from his Lifetime Writings by Robert Phillips. This book was originally published by Farrar, Strauss & Giroux in 1970; I own the edition published by Harper & Row / Colophon Books in 1972.
I’ve owned Professional Secrets for quite a few years now and have filled a small notebook with quotations from it. Recently, the idea occurred to me to share these quotations — and perhaps some others — on Twitter.
