Motiv Eternal: Paintings by Neco Beth

Neco Beth

The motif of my paintings buoys me up as a person.
My thoughts, in part pure expressionist,
Are soaked in a language that is purely stone-age,
For its signs, symbols, its fauna, its surfaces. I began
This mode of expression as a stripling, and I own it
Contra-punctually against a rationality in art that I find finally sterile.
Here, I’m at home.
Fascinated.
I paint, rather than think.

These are lovely modernist variations on cave paintings I have seen in France. Wonderful use of color.
