Artist’s Statement: These are abstract paintings through which I have attempted to capture the feel, but not necessarily the look, of movement of animals and people in nature, combining the gestures of abstract expressionism with patterning, and with an emphasis on color and texture.

Alec Clayton

Alec Clayton grew up in the Deep South, earned his graduate degree in drawing and painting from East Tennessee State University in 1970. He now lives in Olympia, WA. His works have been shown in galleries throughout the country. He works as an art and theater critic for newspapers in Tacoma and Olympia.

He's also the author of eight novels and a book of art criticism. HIs latest novel is TUPELO, a story of coming of age in Mississippi in the 1960s.
